  • All Nations Centre Sachville Avenue Cardiff, Wales, CF14 United Kingdom (map)

I’m over the moon to announce that we have the joy of welcoming back British-Filipino mezzo-soprano, Marienella Phillips, back by popular demand, to lead a Sharing Event in December.

We’re delighted to announce that Marienella Phillips will be with us again in December to explore what it means to be a singing actor, sharing techniques and strategies required improve our singing from a musical, dramatic, and imaginative viewpoint.

This detailed one-day course will focus on studying singing from an actor's perspective, linking vocal technique with truthful storytelling. Participants will work with songs of their choice, as well as receive advice on finding the right songs for your voice, as well as an opportunity to perform in front of a friendly and supportive audience.

Marienella Phillips is a British-Filipino mezzo-soprano, actor and director. She sang in Henry V (Donmar Warehouse) and played Alice, Cambridge and Salisbury. This production was directed by Max Webster and led by Kit Harrington as part of National Theatre Live. She was Assistant Director for The Downfall of Don José (Longborough Festival Opera) directed by Maria Jagusz where she also played Carmen.

Recent credits include Alternate Cassandra & Clarice in The Fabulist at The Charing Cross Theatre and Jaquenetta/Cover Princess in Love's Labour's Lost with the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon. Marienella also sang the English National Anthem at Twickenham Stadium and the Welsh National Anthem at Ashton Gate Stadium.

She graduated from Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and David Seligman Opera Studio in 2020, alongside Jack Bowtell - appearing together in a number of opera productions, including Albert Herring, Dead Man Walking and Così fan tutte.

Our Sharing Events always prove to be a wonderful day of music making, in a fantastically safe and supportive environment. If you or someone you know would like to take part, please follow the link below.
